Australian car enthusiasts are using viral TikTok car cleaning hacks to keep their vehicles looking showroom-clean all year round.

From using a squeegee to rake up pet hair on the back seats to spraying shaving foam on the interior to remove stains, each 'life hack' has been tested and recommended by a cleaning professional.

'Getting your car professionally cleaned can be an expensive and time-consuming task, so we're encouraging drivers to turn to social media for some cleaning inspiration,' StressFreeCarRental.com said.

TikTok users are finding more ingenious ways to keep cars looking fresh with household items

'Petrolheads and DIY-lovers have provided other drivers with some truly unique and effective hacks that deserve to be highlighted.

'It's amazing what you can achieve with a few household items. Regularly looking after your vehicle is not only aesthetically pleasing, but can also improve its lifespan too.'

So which household cleaning products and equipment are worth investing in to get the job done?

A window squeegee picks up pet hairs better than some vacuums could

Have a spare window squeegee lying around at home?

TikTok users are convinced that the rubber brush makes light work of pet hairs caught in the back seat fabric.

The hairs will stick to the rubber blade as you rub the upholstery and carpets up and down, and can get into tighter places better than a vacuum can.

Silicon cupcake moulds are a unique way to keep drips and bits out of the cupholders

If you're not a specialist baker turn your silicon cupcake moulds into a cup holder crumb catcher.

The cheap and effective moulds can be placed inside the holders to house your everyday products so that if anything spills it can quickly be removed from the car.

Simply rinse them out and pop them back in the cupholder when they get mucky.

Shaving foam isn't just useful for the face: Use it to pick up any stains on the cars' upholstery

Shaving foam will help give all your cars' upholstery a fresh sheen.

The foam will help remove stains in the fabric quite effortlessly, according to TikTok users.

Use a stiff brush to push the shaving foam into the fabric and remove any excess.

Toothpaste can help clear up those foggy headlights

Toothpaste will help clear up the fog clouding up your headlights.

Squeeze some white toothpaste onto an old toothbrush, so the bristles are soft, and gently rub the headlights and wipe away the excess.

Your headlights will look factory new as a result. The same method will also help rectify superficial scratches on your paintwork.

A dash of olive oil isn't just for cooking, using it to clean your dashboard can give it a new shine

A dabble or two of olive oil on a soft cloth will help revive your dashboard and plastic trimmings and give it a factory-fresh glint.

Simply wipe off the excess after and make sure the dash is dry - much like seasoning a cast iron skillet.

Pop the cloth you use into the laundry basket to wash with the rest of your clothes.

Vinegar is often used in the bathroom to clean mirrors and windows, why not use it for your windshield?

People often use vinegar in household cleaning on their bathroom windows and mirrors, so it makes sense this could work on your car windows and wiper blades too.

Avoid those dreaded smudges by wiping a small amount of vinegar into the screen and rinse it with water.

You can easily remove bug splatters on your car with cooking spray. #lifehacks #cleaningtips #carsoftiktok #tiktokhacks #cars #bugs

Wiping off splattered bugs after a long drive can be tiresome.

Using some cooking spray can actually help remove those unwanted passengers from your car.

Simply spray on, leave the spray for a few seconds and wipe off the bug splatters with a damp cloth.

Laundry detergent can help clear up stubborn stains from your car floormats

Detergent will help clear up your plastic floormats.

Mix a cup of liquid detergent with a few cups of water to make a paste and using a brush, put in a little elbow grease to clear up those dirty mats.

Make sure to rinse them with warm water afterwards and dry them out before putting them back in your car.
