Pleasant, three fires on the Nevada City side of the South Yuba River, Nevada County. Caused by a vehicle catching on fire. Evacuations and road closures have been lifted.

48 acres brush and timber, 85% contained. Last report unless significant activity occurs.

Fire experienced no growth during the day shift, now 55% contained.

Minimal fire behavior overnight. Containment has reached 30%.

August 20, 2022 at 9:10 PM Many resources are being released from the fire, night shift will continue mop-up operations.

August 20, 2022 at 8:00 PM Roadway closure is being lifted. All evacuation orders related to the wildfire located at Owl Creek Road and Kodama Road affecting Zone NCO-E075 have been lifted. Residents are free to return home. Please be mindful of first responder activity in the area.

Next substantial update will be at 8:00 pm. No change in evacuations or closures until then.

There will be extensive mop-up on the incident. Remaining hotspots inside the containment lines need to be extinguished, then checking for hazard trees ad stumps, finally backhaul of the equipment and rehabilitation of the dozerlines and handlines. Evacuations remain unchanged.

Dozer line is tied in to the drainage, per Air Attack 230 who is leaving the incident and heading back to Grass Valley Air Attack Base.

Forward progress of the fire has been stopped. No spot fires outside of current containment lines.

Helicopter 514 has been released from the fire, making a stop at Bullards for fuel, then returning to White Cloud.

Zone NCO-E075 has been split in two zones. NCO-E075-A is a mandatory evacuation order. Anything south of Newtown Road in the zone is under an evacuation warning.

Helicopter continues to work the hotspots, all tankers are off the fire. They are on a load and hold on their respective bases for now. Fire is looking good.

A reminder, everything west of Newtown Road is included in the mandatory evacuation. Nishinam Gulch Rd at Highway 49 is closed and Jones Bar Road is closed at Newtown Road.

Note: Hwy 49 is not affected.

Due to the #pleasantfire, Nishinam Gulch Road is closed as well as Jones Bar Road at Newtown Road. Please avoid the area.

Air Attack leaving some tankers on a load and hold. The Type 1 tanker will double up the retardant line at the heel of the fire.

Fire behavior is moderating, no spotting observed. Tankers are reinforcing the existing lines.

Retardant lines around the fire now complete.

Five requests for help with animal evacuations have been called into dispatch.

FIRIS mapping plane is over the fire.

A 2-acre spot fire ahead of the main fire is being worked by helicopters.

Latest estimate puts the fire at 100 acres. Flareups continue.

Retardant line on the left flank is holding well, current weather in the area: 96F, Relative Humidity: 16%, winds SW at 5 mph with gusts of 11mph.

Fire is still burning at a moderate rate of spread with some short to medium-range spotting.

Additional Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies and State Parks rangers assisting with evacuations. The vehicle that started the fires is blocking a driveway, deputies will evacuate the residents.

Helicopters are working the hotspots close to the structures. If you need time to evacuate and are in zone NCO-E075, please leave now.

Additional evacuations coming for Jones Bar Road.

All residences on Barn Owl Lane have been evacuated.

Zonehaven is back up, at least on our map now.

Animal evacuation will set up at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

Latest estimate puts the fire at 70 acres, high potential for spotting and outflanking the existing lines.

Retardant all the way up the right flank now, they’re continuing to extend the lines. Hand crew is walking in now to strengthen that line.

ICP will be at Jones Bar and Owl Creek

Having trouble filling all the water tender requests.

If you are attempting to pull up Zonehaven, there’s a glitch right now and you may see no zones. NCO-E075 is the zone that should prepare for evacuations.

Tankers continue to work the flanks of the fires. Pleasant IC requesting a staging area manager to Bitney Springs at Jones Bar.

Six additional water tenders requested to the fires.

Tankers have lined the right flank of the fire, which is to the west of the 2020 Jones Fire.

Evacuations coming shortly for the Lost Ranch Way, Red Tail Hawk Road area.

Twelve engines total on order for the Pleasant/Owl fires. Three dozers on order.

Air Attack reports best access if of Jones Bar and McKittridge Ranch Road. One structure will be threatened shortly. Second Type 1 tanker on order.

Air Attack reports one of the fires has spotted, burning at a moderate rate of spread in brush and timber.

Air Attack is over the fire with tankers.

Fires are on the Nevada City side of the South Yuba Canyon
