A mother's simple shower cleaning trick that has gone viral on social media will leave your screen door sparkling new for less than $4.

The woman, who shared the hack anonymously in Australian Facebook group Mums Who Clean, clears soap scum with a retractable paint scraper which costs $3.63 at Bunnings.

While the gadget is typically used to strip silicone or flaky paint, photos of the mum's shower door taken before and after it was cleaned prove it works just as well on grubby glass.

The trick, which has racked up 406 'likes' since it was uploaded online on January 10, has been endorsed by a professional cleaner who says she 'always carries a scraper' in her kit.

The transformation snaps have drawn over 100 delighted responses, with comments including 'looks magnificent', 'mind-blowing' and 'I need to try this'.

It's the latest in a long line of simple shower cleaning trick to sweep social media.

Last week, an Australian mother transformed her shower screen from grimy to gleaming by wiping it with dishwasher detergent, water and a dash of vinegar.

After mixing the ingredients together, she used a two-in-one dish brush - which cost $4 from Kmart - to brush soap scum from the glass.

The method is so easy, she said her kids and husband now help with cleaning every time they take a shower.

A mother has revealed her simple cleaning method for transforming her shower screen from dirty to sparkling new without spending hours scrubbing

'My bathrooms take five minutes now to clean,' the mum wrote in a Facebook group alongside photos of her shower screen.

She said she dries the walls and doors with a microfibre cloth after she tackles the glass.

'The kids "help" when they have showers,' she added.

'Hubby even gives it a go when he's having a shower. Quick and easy and they're always clean most of the time.'

Regularly cleaning glass screens means grime, soap scum and mould is less likely to build up in the shower.

Dozens responded to the thread, revealing they do the same cleaning method at home.

'I do this too. I give it a quick squeegee afterwards too. So quick and easy now,' one woman wrote.

Another added: 'This is what I use for my bathroom, windows and glass splashback. Then I use a dry microfibre cloth. It works a treat and so cheap.'

Many insisted dishwasher detergent works better than glass cleaning products for cleaning windows, showers and other glass surfaces.

'I use the same mix to clean my windows. Always clearer and streak free than any other glass cleaner I've ever used. Swear by it,' one wrote.

A second said: 'I can't go back using glass cleaner now because it doesn't get the tiles as nice as dish detergent.'
