I was facing a crisis – an imminent inspection of my unit, two messy children and no time. But a knight in shining armour saved the day.

I received the phone call that no renter wants to get. It was time for another inspection.

With a busy work schedule and a newborn baby keeping me busy, time was quickly running out. There were two young children in the house and the floor getting messier by the hour.

I had a serious problem on my hands.

Three weeks prior I received a notification that tech company Ecovacs Robotics had released its latest flagship robovac, complete with a wide range of breakthrough intelligence and new innovations.

“It’s like a personal butler”, my source told me. “Do you want me to send you a unit to review?”

Setting up the DEEBOT X1 OMNI

Setting up the unit was extremely easy.

Basically I unboxed the robovac, clipped on the side brushes, downloaded the app and powered on the unit.

I also needed to fill the clean water tank for mopping. The whole thing took less than five minutes.

Once the app was installed we were introduced to YIKO, the industry’s first natural language, built-in interactive assistant tailored for home service robots.

She instantly became best friends with my three-year-old.

Using intelligent AI voice interaction technologies and voice semantics from Google, it gives users complete control and enables precise guidance.

Basically YIKO can understand and implement user voice instructions.

By saying “OK YIKO, start quick mapping”, you can build a complete map for efficient cleaning.

You can also command it to vacuum under the couch or clean the bedroom.

YIKO was a source of fun in the house, especially for those aged under four.

I used it as a learning exercise and said to my daughter, “Let’s clean up the blocks so that YIKO can easily clean the house!”

I was also tempted to put the portable Bluetooth speaker on top of the DEEBOT X1 OMN, like Tom in Parks and Recreation, instantly transforming YIKO into “DJ Roomba”.

That will have to wait for another day.

The DEEBOT X1 OMNI picked up pretty much everything, dust, fluff and the stray grain of rice. Finally I could walk around barefoot on the wooden floors without that annoying feeling of dust on my feet.

I was also very happy with how it dealt with electric cords – it stayed well away from them.

Somehow it seemed smarter than previous versions of robovac that I’ve encountered.

Ecovacs Robotics says the technology combines AI and 3D obstacle detection, significantly improving the robot’s perception of the environment using laser and visual sensing capabilities.

It also uses AIVI️ 3D technology to add a third dimension to household mapping, enabling the robot to navigate more precisely across different environments in the home.

Basically the robovac is on autopilot, all powered by the Horizon GAI chip.

Sleek design with powerful suction

The grey and black finish on the robovac and charging station is futuristic and impressed me.

Danish company Jacob Jensen Design was heavily involved in the design and you can see the impact through the minimalist aesthetics.

And this is where we get to what makes the DEEBOT X1 OMNI so very special. It can manage the entire floor cleaning process. Not only sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping, but also cleaning of the mop, drying the mop with hot air flow and refilling the water reservoir from its water tank.

After the cleaning session is complete, the base station automatically washes the mop and dries it using hot air to remove odours.

The ECOVACS has highest ever suction power of up to 5000Pa and also utilises the OZMO️ Turbo 2.0 Rotating Mopping System, with pads specially designed to vibrate, spin, and maintain moisture efficiently.

So how did the inspection go? I’m happy to say I’m not homeless. We passed the test with flying colours, in large part thanks to the DEEBOT X1 OMNI.

For years we’ve been promised that technology make your life easier.

This robovac can save you hours that you would have spent cleaning. Finally the future is here.

The DEEBOT X1 OMNI (Black) is available from Bing Lee, Godfreys, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys and ECOVACS.com/au for $2499 (RRP).

It’s simply the best robovac on the market and definitely a buy from me.
