A 35-year-old Balbriggan man accused of assault causing harm has been sent forward for trial.

M uzammal Ashraf was served with the book of evidence at Balbriggan District Court.

The accused, of Hamptons Gardens Drive, Balbriggan, is facing two counts of assault causing harm to a woman at the same address on February 27th, 2022.

He also charged with the production of certain articles, namely a heavy wooden rolling pin, wooden handle broom and a wooden handle mop in a manner likely to intimidate.

The state solicitor told the court the book of evidence was ready and had been served on the accused.

She said the DPP consents to the defendant being sent foward to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on counts one to five in the book of evidence.

Judge John O’Leary issued the defendant with the formal alibi warning, informing him that if he intends to rely on the defence of alibi he must, within 14 days, notify the Prosecution of this in writing.

He made a Section 56 order in relation to video tapes of garda interviews.

The court heard there was no application for legal aid.

Judge O’Leary remanded Ashraf on continuning bail and sent him forward to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on October 6th.

A further charge of section 2 assault was adjourned to January 12th, 2023.
