Modern Warfare 2 fans want funny feature to publicly shame campers - Charlie INTEL

A funny new feature that some Modern Warfare 2 fans are calling for could be a surefire way to shame campers.

The camping playstyle has been a point of contention for CoD fans for ages and this shouldn’t change with Modern Warfare 2 right around the corner. Now, players have revealed their desire to see a new feature with the sole purpose of publicly shaming campers.

Call of Duty’s multiplayer mode has seen a wide variety of playstyles develop over the years. Whether you’re an objective-based player, or you prefer the aggressive run and gun style, most would agree that they share a disdain for the notorious camper style.

Campers utilize their stationary positions to mop up enemies that attempt to repeatedly force them out of power positions. Oftentimes this leads to easy kills, but it is widely regarded as a boring playstyle that slows the pace of the game.

Public opinion has always been a great way to force change, even outside of the Call of Duty community. One Reddit user has offered their solution for dealing with campers in Modern Warfare 2. Their plan is to use a public form of shaming to deter players from camping.

As the post suggests, a public pedometer that displays every player’s amount of footsteps per match could “motivate people to start walking and keep the pace in the game.” The key factor here is the public element in that “everybody should be able to see it” on the scoreboard.

This isn’t exactly a new concept for the Call of Duty franchise as a watch in 2019’s Modern Warfare displayed a footstep count. However, the OP was quick to double down on the public aspect of the feature: “yes I know. But the watch is only for you. I want it to be visible for all the players.”

While camping in Call of Duty is universally hated, some players were quick to think of clever countermeasures like strafing back and forth continuously to fool the pedometer.

While this comedic new feature is not likely to make its way to the game, check out what to expect from the new MW2 Gunsmith system.

Call of Duty players are calling for the Modern Warfare 2 developers to make a major change to the franchise’s Prestige system.

The Call of Duty community is hoping that the highly-anticipated Modern Warfare 2 to bring a major change to the series Prestige system.

Modern Warfare 2 is set to bring a ton of content when it is finally released in October, including a brand-new campaign, maps, movement mechanics, and an improved Gunsmith system.

Now, fans of the popular shooter franchise are calling for the Modern Warfare developers to bring back the version of the Prestige system that was present in older Call of Duty titles.

This progression system is meant to incentivize players to grind the game so that they can earn an impressive Prestige Level. Reddit user ‘Target74’ shared an image of the Modern Warfare 2 Steam page in the game’s subreddit.

It mentions that players can “race to Prestige and level up [their] favorite weapons.” The Redditor stated that this is the first time they’ve seen a mention of Prestige when it comes to MW2.

However, one user pointed out that this isn’t a direct confirmation of the system in MW2 as a few CoD titles have referred to seasonal leveling as games as “Prestige.” Many of the commenters expressed their desire to see the return of the old Prestige system.

Black Ops Cold War introduced a new version of the system which would cause players’ levels to reset to base at the start of each new season. While players could keep all their unlocks, they would have to start leveling up again.

In the original Modern Warfare 2, players could keep their rank and Prestige it. One user commented: “Just let us do it old school to 1000 max prestige and stop resetting crap over and over again.”

Another player added that the current system “provides zero incentive” for players to grind their levels. They explained: “Now there’s no reason to grind your levels at all because they get reset every two months and make it feel like you wasted your time.”

The commenter then added that they want to see the old level system and Prestiges come back as they made it more exciting to jump into Double XP weekends.

Having your level reset makes it easy for players to feel like they’re not getting anything for their efforts. However, it’s possible that the developers might make a few changes when Modern Warfare 2 arrives.

As one commenter pointed out, both Cold War and Vanguard are tied to Warzone so they had to go with the same leveling system. Since MW2 and Warzone 2 are fresh starts, they could change the leveling system.

We’ll be sure to update you with new information about the progression system in Modern Warfare 2 as soon as it becomes available.

Microsoft is in the process of acquiring CoD publisher Activision Blizzard, so does that mean Modern Warfare 2 will come to Xbox Game Pass?

Microsoft are in the process of acquiring Activision Blizzard, Call of Duty’s publisher, but what does that mean for Modern Warfare 2 coming to Xbox Games Pass? Here’s everything we know.

Microsoft shook the gaming world by announcing they were acquiring Activision Blizzard, who publishes Call of Duty, Overwatch, and more. There’s been a ton of speculation surrounding it, with CoD games arriving on Xbox Game Pass often leading the discussion.

Modern Warfare 2 arrives on October 28 and thanks to its reveal trailer, the upcoming Call of Duty Next event, and Warzone 2 releasing this year, hype is at an all-time high. With pre-orders live, some are holding off in the hope that Modern Warfare 2 will launch on Xbox Game Pass. Here’s everything we know.

No, Modern Warfare 2 will not launch on Xbox Game Pass on October 28.

Sony currently have a marketing partnership with Call of Duty that gives PlayStation players early access to betas, free Combat Packs, and exclusive game modes. This marketing deal still stands, and unless Microsoft buys it out, we won’t see Modern Warfare 2 arrive on Game Pass before the deal goes through.

Plus, Microsoft revealed all of the games coming to Xbox and PC over 2022 and 2023 and also included whether they’ll arrive on Xbox Game Pass. Modern Warfare 2 was not marked as coming to Xbox Game Pass, which makes it all the more unlikely.

Yes, Modern Warfare 2 and all of the other Call of Duty games are set to arrive on Xbox Game Pass once Microsoft has acquired Activision Blizzard.

Microsoft Gaming boss Phil Spencer provided an update in a September 1 blog, confirming that “We intend to make Activision Blizzard’s much-loved library of games – including Overwatch, Diablo and Call of Duty – available in Game Pass.”

While there’s no release date for Call of Duty on Game Pass, the deal is set to close in June 2023, so this gives a reasonable estimate as to when the games will be added.

Modern Warfare 2 is rumored to have a two-year cycle, so we could see the game arrive in time for its second year of content. Or, the premium CoD title that Activision teased for 2023 could arrive on Game Pass day one — we’ll just have to wait and see.
